Video continues to be the fastest growing content area on social media, and especially on Instagram. One of the most common requests I get is for help with Instagram reels. Here are 5 tips to get you started.
Don't be afraid to show your fun side. Reels are a great way to show the face behind a business and are a great way to introduce yourself or team members. Have fun and use reels as a light hearted way to show off your brand
2. Can you use trending audio? Using trending tracks will help you reach more people. What content do you already have that you can upload to a trending song ?
3. What's your call to action? Encourage viewers to follow you (or tap a link in bio). If they like what they see then they will, and you can sell to them in subsequent posts. You don't need every reel to be sales focused, use reels to build a community.
4. Get in the habit of creating content
Take photos and videos whenever you can, snap away when you see something that could be useful for later on. This way you'll have a bank of content ready to use when you want to create a reel.
5. Think about your cover image
Share the reel to your grid so it gets seen as often as possible. Think about the cover image you use, remembering that only a square will show on the grid. Creating a cover and uploading it from your camera roll is the best way to ensure your reel doesn't disrupt your grid.
I'd love to see reels you create, and if you've any questions let me know.
My next reels workshop will be in-person at Maven in Winchester on Friday 18th March. Find out more here.
